St. Louis, MO

Introduction & Theme:
We are pleased to announce our upcoming National Conference, hosted by the Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM), March 6-8, 2020 in St. Louis, MO. This year's Conference will focus on the theme, "Unidos por Medicina y Más: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Latinx Health." Through this theme, we hope to expose attendees to not only a variety of healthcare issues facing communities of color across the country, but also a wide range of perspectives in medicine, policy, anthropology, and other disciplines dedicated to solving those issues. We extend immense gratitude to our host institution, WUSM, as well as our speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors for contributing to the success of this Conference. Lastly, we thank you - our attendees - for being invested in the mission and vision of LMSA. We hope this Conference provides you with an enriching and empowering learning experience, so that, together, we may improve healthcare outcomes for Latina/o/x-identifying patients now and in the future.
Purpose and Demographics:
Each year, the LMSA National Conference aims to bring together high school students, undergraduate premedical students, medical students, graduating physicians, residents, practicing physicians, and other health professionals interested in service, mentorship, and education to advocate for the health of our comunidad Latina. Typically, over 300 attendees travel from across the United States to experience workshops and plenary sessions focused on the following topics:

LMSA National Advisor Track: register here!
As in years past, LMSA will offer its Chapter Advisors and affiliated mentors a dedicated track for professional development, to take place on Friday, March 6th. We at LMSA acknowledge the immense contributions that Chapter Advisors make in the development of LMSA members. Thus, we strongly encourage all Advisors to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss effective strategies and innovations to promote representation of Hispanic/Latino-identifying individuals in the medical profession and pipeline.
Track attendees are also encouraged to submit proposals to lead sessions/workshops during Friday's programming. Sessions are intended to provide a forum for the extended exchange of ideas among advisors on topics of common interest regarding innovations and challenges to the personal and professional development of LMSA members along the pipeline.
While a range of proposals will be considered, the Program Committee is most interested in workshops detailing:
- Innovative educational and service activities that promote the personal and professional development of LMSA members and advisors,
- Best practices in advising LMSA members,
- Institutional climate practices supporting the inclusion of Latino trainees,
- LMSA-based educational initiatives to train health care providers to provide better care to Latino patients,
- Collaborations with other groups to achieve common outcomes (e.g. pathway/pipeline programs), and
- Strategies to leverage LMSA-related contributions to promote scholarship or achieve promotion.
Selected proposals will be grouped by topic during one of the two concurrent blocks (each block will offer two sessions). If accepted, each speaker will also be organized on a panel and will have 20 minutes for their presentation. 15 minutes will be reserved for discussion at the end of each panel.
Unless otherwise contacted, all Track attendees must complete online registration and payment through this site. Fees will cover attendee meals and supplies for the Friday session. Information on CME credits (maximum of 6) remains pending and will be updated ASAP.
For any questions regarding the LMSA National Advisor Track, please reach out to Dr. John Paul Sanchez, Executive Director for LMSA, here.

Premedical Student Track:
We are pleased to offer programming for premedical students on both the Friday and Saturday of the Conference weekend. Notably, there are several premed-focused sessions scheduled to take place on Friday, March 6th. During registration, please indicate which sessions you are interested in attending, so that we may appropriately plan space. Your choices are not binding, and you are free to explore any other workshops and breakout sessions that interest you. We look forward to seeing you there!
Partners, Sponsors & Exhibitors (including Advertisers): download our 2020 prospectus here!
It is our pleasure to invite you to the LMSA National & Midwest Regional Conference 2020, to be held March 6-8, 2020 at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO.
The Conference will begin on March 6th and feature medical student presentations as well as dedicated workshops for premedical undergraduate and high school students. Programming will continue through Saturday, exposing all attendees to seminars and workshops focused on key topics in Latinx health. As a result, the Conference weekend is rife with opportunities for your institution or organization to engage with excellent trainees from backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine.
The primary event for Partners, Sponsors & Exhibitors is our annual Exhibitor Fair, which will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 11:45am to 2:45pm Central Time. This allows for three hours of contact between exhibitors, >200 medical students, and >50 premedical student attendees. Moreover, institutions like yours have the chance to sponsor additional events during the Conference weekend, including:
- A Friday night networking dinner and social for all attendees,
- Registration (by providing support for bags, pens, notebooks, and other promotional materials given to attendees), and
- Conference meals through the weekend.
Each of these forums allows our partner organizations to increase their visibility and reach to all Conference attendees. For pricing and more information, please refer to this year's Prospectus or reach out to fundraising@lmsa.net.
We at LMSA thank you for being a part of our mission and vision for a healthier Hispanic/Latinx community in the United States. We look forward to helping you and your institution progress and exceed LCME and ACGME accreditation standards (below). Lastly, we hope to see you in St. Louis next March.
All logistical information regarding the Exhibitor Fair can be found in this year's Prospectus or on this event page. Please check this page often for updates regarding shipping, addresses, and additional items. Conference information, including the weekend's agenda, can be found on this page. For any additional questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact fundraising@lmsa.net.

For all Exhibitors: Exhibitors must accept the Terms & Conditions on the registration page in order for a table to be secured. LMSA reserves the right to deny, refuse, or refund payment to any organization at any time, for any reason.
Partners and Exhibitors may purchase additional Exhibitor registrations by entering each additional representative's information during registration. LMSA will generate a separate invoice for the additional registration(s) ($100 each, subject to early bird discounts and late registration fees), to be delivered to the email address of the primary registrant. For any questions, please contact fundraising@lmsa.net.
If paying by check: Please refer to this year's Prospectus for detailed instructions. Checks must be received by no later than February 14, 2020; registrations with outstanding payments at this time will be canceled.

Presentation & Poster Symposium:
Presentations: This year, LMSA will be reinstating student presentations (similar to previous years' "8 by 8" symposia) during the Conference programming on Friday, March 6. We will be selecting TEN (10) student or resident teams to give a brief TED-style talk and showcase our members' ongoing scholarship. Possible topics include, but are not limited to: outreach initiatives, community service events, scientific research and inquiry, medical education projects, and more.
To be considered for a presentation, please indicate so on the registration form. During registration, please submit an abstract in PDF or DOCX format, not to exceed 250 words. If selected, presenters become eligible for financial awards aimed at reducing Conference and/or Gala costs. These awards will be given as reimbursements and will thus require completion of a reimbursement form, which will be distributed to selected presenters. Note: all awards are subject to availability of funds.
Posters: LMSA will also be hosting a Research Poster Symposium on Friday evening. Twenty (20) posters will be selected across five topics: Basic Science, Clinical Research, Medical Education, Service/Advocacy, and Other. Abstracts for posters must also be submitted via the registration form. Posters should be equal to or smaller than 36 inches H by 48 inches W. Poster boards will be double-sided. Board assignments will be given out at time of registration check-in. Poster presenters are also eligible for financial awards aimed at reducing Conference and/or Gala costs, based on availability of funds.
All abstracts for posters and presentations are due no later than February 7, 2020. Cash prizes for best poster and best presentation will be announced at the Gala & Closing Celebration on Saturday, March 7, 2020. As a result, all presenters are expected to attend the Gala.
