LMSA National presents our first ever online Faculty Advisor Training. Through this training, we hope to assist you in becoming more effective Faculty Advisors for LMSA Chapters at your institutions. Further, we hope to engage you in our National initiatives and help you to bring new and exciting opportunities to your students.

This webinar is being offered on Wednesday August 30th. Two times are being offered for your convenience: 5:00PM - 7:00PM EST or 8:00-10:00PM EST. We will be using the Zoom.us platform (https://zoom.us/download). After registering we will send you a link with information on how to join the webinar by PC/Mac or phone.

 

Faculty Advisors are responsible for advising LMSA Chapter Leaders and members:

 

In the development, implementation and evaluation of an annual strategic plan that aligns with the mission and strategic plan of LMSA National (to be submitted to LMSA National by September 15);

 

On on-going and emerging Latino/Hispanic related health issues;

 

In engaging in LMSA National related regional and national activities;

 

In assessing and achieving their personal and professional interests to become the next generation of Latino leaders;

 

Faculty Advisors are expected to:

 

a) attend the LMSA regional or national conference;

 

b) participate in the LMSA National Faculty orientation (offered via webinar during August-September and at the LMSA National Conference);

 

c) Meet with LMSA Chapter leaders and/or on a monthly basis to achieve the aforementioned responsibilities.

 

To achieve effective relationships with Faculty Advisors, Chapters Leaders are responsible for:

 

Developing an annual strategic plan that aligns with the mission and strategic plan of their medical school, surrounding community, and LMSA National

 

Considering the resources of home institution and the chapter (human capital and finances) in the implementation and evaluation of their annual strategic plan

 

Informing faculty advisors, in a timely fashion, of topics of interest and concerns of members

 

Working with faculty advisors in engaging in regional and national activities

 

Meeting with faculty advisor to discuss individual personal and professional interests to becoming the next generation of Latino leaders
